CCNA Implementation SIM

(Updated from real CCNA exam on Jan-09-2010)

This topology contains 3 routers and 1 switch. Complete the topology.

Drag the appropriate device icons to the labeled Device
Drag the appropriate connections to the locations labeled Connections.
Drag the appropriate IP addresses to the locations labeled IP address

(Hint: use the given host addresses and Main router information)
To remove a device or connection, drag it away from the topology.

Use information gathered from the Main router to complete the configuration of any additional routers. No passwords are required to access the Main router. The config terminal command has been disabled for the HQ router. The router does not require any configuration.

Configure each additional router with the following:

Configure the interfaces with the correct IP address and enable the interfaces.
Set the password to allow console access to consolepw
Set the password to allow telnet access to telnetpw
Set the password to allow privilege mode access to privpw

Note: Because routes are not being added to the configurations, you will not be able to ping through the internetwork.
All devices have cable autosensing capabilities disabled.
All hosts are PC’s

Answer and explanation:

Specify appropriate devices and drag them on the "Device" boxes

For the device at the bottom-right box, we notice that it has 2 interfaces Fa0/2 and Fa0/4; moreover the link connects the PC on the right with the device on the bottom-right is a straight-through link -> it is a switch

The question stated that this topology contains 3 routers and 1 switch -> two other devices are routers

Place them on appropriate locations as following:

ccna_implementation_1

(Host D and host E will be automatically added after placing two routers. Click on them to access neighboring routers)

Specify appropriate connections between these devices:

+ The router on the left is connected with the Main router through FastEthernet interfaces: use a crossover cable
+ The router on the right is connected with the Main router through Serial interfaces: use a serial cable
+ The router on the right and the Switch: use a straight-through cable
+ The router on the left and the computer: use a crossover cable

(To remember which type of cable you should use, follow these tips:

- To connect two serial interfaces of 2 routers we use serial cable
- To specify when we use crossover cable or straight-through cable, we should remember:
Group 1: Router, Host, Server
Group 2: Hub, Switch
One device in group 1 + One device in group 2: use straight-through cable
Two devices in the same group: use crossover cable

For example: we use straight-through cable to connect switch to router, switch to host, hub to host, hub to server... and we use crossover cable to connect switch to switch, switch to hub, router to router, host to host... )

ccna_implementation_2

Assign appropriate IP addresses for interfaces:

From Main router, use show running-config command:

ccna_implementation_3

(Notice that you may see different IP addresses in the real CCNA exam, the ones shown above are just used for demonstration)

From the output we learned that the ip address of Fa0/0 interface of the Main router is 192.168.152.177/28. This address belongs to a subnetwork which has:

Increment: 16 (/28 = 255.255.255.240 or 1111 1111.1111 1111.1111 1111.1111 0000)
Network address: 192.168.152.176 (because 176 = 16 * 11 and 176 < 177)
Broadcast address: 192.168.152.191 (because 191 = 176 + 16 - 1)

And we can pick up an ip address from the list that belongs to this subnetwork: 192.168.152.190 and assign it to the Fa0/0 interface the router on the left

Use the same method for interface Serial0/0 with an ip address of 192.168.152.161

Increment: 16
Network address: 192.168.152.160 (because 160 = 16 * 10 and 160 < 161)
Broadcast address: 192.168.152.175 (because 176 = 160 + 16 - 1)

-> and we choose 192.168.152.174 for Serial0/0 interface of the router on the right

Interface Fa0/1 of the router on the left

IP (of the computer on the left) : 192.168.152.129/28

Increment: 16
Network address: 192.168.152.128 (because 128 = 16 * 8 and 128 < 129)
Broadcast address: 192.168.152.143 (because 143 = 128 + 16 - 1)

-> we choose 192.168.152.142 from the list

Interface Fa0/0 of the router on the right

IP (of the computer on the left) : 192.168.152.225/28

Increment: 16
Network address: 192.168.152.224 (because 224 = 16 * 14 and 224 < 225)
Broadcast address: 192.168.152.239 (because 239 = 224 + 16 - 1)

-> we choose 192.168.152.238 from the list

Let's have a look at the picture below to summarize

ccna_implementation_4

Configure two routers on the left and right with these commands:

Router1 = router on the left

Assign appropriate IP addresses to Fa0/0 & Fa0/1 interfaces:

Router1>enable
Router1#configure terminal
Router1(config)#interface fa0/0
Router1(config-if)#ip address 192.168.152.190 255.255.255.240
Router1(config-if)#no shutdown

Router1(config-if)#interface fa0/1
Router1(config-if)#ip address 192.168.152.142 255.255.255.240
Router1(config-if)#no shutdown

Set passwords (configure on two routers)

+ Console password:

Router1(config-if)#exit
Router1(config)#line console 0
Router1(config-line)#password consolepw
Router1(config-line)#login
Router1(config-line)#
exit

+ Telnet password:

Router1(config)#line vty 0 4
Router1(config-line)#password telnetpw
Router1(config-line)#login
Router1(config-line)#exit

+ Privilege mode password:

Router1(config)#enable password privpw

Save the configuration:

Router1(config)#exit
Router1#copy running-config startup-config

Configure IP addresses of Router2 (router on the right)

Router2>enable
Router2#configure terminal
Router2(config)#interface fa0/0
Router2(config-if)#ip address 192.168.152.238 255.255.255.240
Router2(config-if)#no shutdown

Router2(config-if)#interface serial0/0
Router2(config-if)#ip address 192.168.152.174 255.255.255.240
Router2(config-if)#no shutdown

and set console, telnet and privilege mode passwords for Router2 as we did for Router1, remember to save the configuration when you finished

From the output we learned that the ip address of Fa0/0 interface of the Main router is 192.168.152.178/28. This address belongs to a subnetwork which has:

Increment: 16 (/28 = 255.255.255.240 or 1111 1111.1111 1111.1111 1111.1111 0000)
Network address: 192.168.152.176 (because 176 = 16 * 11 and 176 < 178)
Broadcast address: 192.168.152.191 (because 191 = 176 + 16 - 1)

And we can pick up an ip address from the list that belongs to this subnetwork: 192.168.152.190 and assign it to the Fa0/0 interface the router on the left
------------------------------------------------------------------------

why 192.168.152.190? may be 192.168.152.177(because 192.168.152.17 )?
Basta63 10-21-2008
From the output we learned that the ip address of Fa0/0 interface of the Main

has:

Network address: 192.168.152.176 (because 176 = 16 * 11 and 176 <
178)

And we can

why 192.168.152.190? may be 192.168.152.177 (because Network address: 192.168.152.176 )?
9tut 10-21-2008
Yes, you are right! In this case we can use 192.168.152.177 instead of 192.168.152.190 because it also belongs to this subnetwork. Maybe in the real exam, address 192.168.152.177 was assigned to the Fa0/0 interface of the Main router and it cannot be assigned one more time.

Basta63, you had a duplicated post so I unpublished it
basta63 10-21-2008
Basta63, you had a duplicated
post so I unpublished it

i'am sorry :) not special

may be in this case u will stay one correct IP address (192.168.152.190, for example).
Stef 10-21-2008
"Maybe in the real
exam, address 192.168.152.177 was assigned to the Fa0/0 interface of the Main
router and it cannot be assigned one more time." you mean instead of 192.168.152.178 from the show run?
VIDZ_SHetty 10-21-2008
Sounds good.

Is there any update on wireless?
9tut 10-21-2008
You got it Stef
9tut 10-21-2008
I think they will have a simulation question about wireless soon
Noname 10-23-2008
Can we use pc-A N pc-C as a console to configure R1 N R2?
Noname 10-23-2008
R u sure there are console on pc-D n pc-E on the real exam?
stef 10-23-2008
I had the same SIM before 2 hours...i made it with 100% thanks to 9tut...thanks you again...My sim had a liitle differnce from this..2 of the six ip addresses that was given to me, was already configured to the Main router( for example with this topology : when i made show run to main router i saw that 192.168.152.157 and 192.168.152.161 was configured to the fa0/0 and s0/0) ..so be carreful not to drag and drop them again to your topology...thank you again
stef 10-23-2008
when i say "192.168.152.157 and 192.168.152.161" i mean every option of the six ip addresses..could be anyone..i use this addresses as an example..
9tut 10-23-2008
Thank stef for giving us his experience with good explanations

To Noname: You cannot use PC-A and PC-C to access Router1 and Router2. We can use PC-B to access Main router, PC-D to Router1 and PC-E to Router2 and they will surely appear when you placed routers to their locations, don't worry!
ht 10-27-2008
I think to use IP 192.168.152.177 for Router on the left is right.because Ip 192.168.152.178 is IP address in the show running config of Main router
9tut 10-27-2008
Please remember the ip addresses in the real CCNA exam may be different. If the ip address of Fa0/0 of the Main router is not 192.168.152.177 then you can use it instead of 192.168.152.190
Januka 10-29-2008
Thanx 9tut,,,, What is the situation about the new wireless sim ??? Did you find one?? plz reply
9tut 10-30-2008
It is not a wireless sim, just a question so don't worry!

i had this Question
configuration just like what u find here all the change the IP numbers
and u will nt find any dificulty in assigning IPs, where every port has only one reasonable answer, in my question after asssigning all IPs there r two IPs left
and theses 2 IPs cant be configured as they r the same IPS that assigning to
So & Fo of main router,
i hope i could explain well
any way dont worry just understand the configuration process
last thanks www.9tut.com
mod 11-04-2008
do i have to configure the 2nd router with the same password in the first one
9tut 11-04-2008
Yes,you do!

thank you 9tut verry much
Ygal 11-05-2008
Hi ,

So is that mean that i can put any correct ip address anywhere in this diagram ? ( except the one that we received by default ).

Ygal
YGal 11-06-2008
I FINALLY understood ...lol .

By the way great site .

9tut 11-06-2008
In the real exam you will find one and only one correct ip address for each interface, so don't worry!
Azeem javed 11-10-2008
Dear all

I want to asked that on the left hand side router how they find that
it could be a roter may it could be switch how they palce router on the left hand side
adnan 11-11-2008
and i want to ask how will we know that routers are connected to each other with which cable like in this scenario you said router on the left is connected with crosscable with main router and router on the right is connected with main router through serial cable.

how did you find ???

rest of simulation is great
Nashja 11-12-2008
I passed exam !!! Thank you very much www.9tut.com
9tut 11-12-2008
Congratulations you,Nashja!

To adnan:
- To connect two serial interfaces of 2 routers we use serial cable
- To specify when we use crossover cable or straight-through cable, we should remember:
Group 1: Router, Host, Server
Group 2: Hub, Switch
Device in group 1 + device in group 2: use straight-through cable
Two devices in the same group: use crossover cable
For example: we use straight-through cable to connect switch to router, switch to PC, hub to PC and we use crossover cable to connect switch to switch, switch to hub, router to router, Host to Host...
9tut 11-12-2008
To Azeem javed: the device in the bottom-right box has Fa0/4 interface -> it is a switch
louieloe 11-12-2008
f i configure an IP which is already used to the other interface, is there a return command that it is duplicate with other interface? thanks.
Moh.Ezzat 11-12-2008
thank you so much u r so gr8...
good luck in life .....;)
Abid 11-12-2008
Could anyone please brief me that what is increment and from where the 16 is come

Abid 11-12-2008
and also the number 11

where 176=16*11
9tut 11-14-2008
You can review about how the subnet mask works in your book. In short, we figure out the increment from the position of the least significant bit 1 (which is 2^4 = 16)

11 is the number when we multiply it with 16 will give us 176 which is the greatest network address but still smaller than 178 (of 192.168.152.178). I will try to explain it in a clearer way soon!
mark 11-14-2008
Hi!i wonder when will be the next update of the exam?I'll be taking the exam this monday.I'm afraid that they might update the exam before hand.
StrangerInMoscow 11-17-2008
hey Buddy

i think you forgot to mention that we have to set the Clock rate for the Serial Connection on the First Router as the show run command on the main Router states that the clock rate is 64000 and this Value Should be identical on the other side of the Connection.

Please correct me, my best Wishes
Blaze 11-17-2008
I saw that they have put in alpos.net the new version of CCNA 802 exam testking v.23 and pass4sure v.3.22, and mentioned Last update 5th of november 2008. Can you please tell me when they will update the questions next? with in 90 days?
please help
9tut 11-17-2008
To mark and Blaze: No one knows when they will update their exam, but I will try to update content on this site as soon as possible. Best wishes to you!

To StrangerInMoscow: We just need to set clock rate on DCE device. In this case the DCE device is Main router, so we don't need to configure clock rate on the two other routers (Router1 and Router2)
Blaze 11-17-2008
Thanks for the info 9tute. Please update the page in real time
thanks for the great help appreciate.

Hi there!

I didnt get why the right-bottom box should be a switch?
whats the relation between having 2Fe and being a switch?

thanks for you answer :)

Hamid 11-26-2008
I need some suggestion. I appeared in the exam a couple of days before, I got failed because of no preparation of labs (got 813 marks). I had the same question in my exam but when i typed

show ?

there wasn't any command like
show running-config
i tried to search a lot... but could not find one......... how cud i do it without this command....... and if this had happened, it can happen again, who shud i blame to......? was there any fault in the system...? has this happened with any of the members as well.........?
9tut 11-27-2008
First make sure you are at the privileged mode (something like Router#) then enter \"show running-config\" command. If nothing happens, report it with the supervisor because it is surely the fault of the system (I heard some reports about this)

Notice: I recommend you to enter the full commands, not their abbreviations

Finally, good luck to your next exam!
Hamid 11-27-2008
thanks my friend! but i did try everything... all the combinations.. everything.....even i cud not run the simple comman
interface f0/0
or
interface fastethernet0/0 (tried all the combinations)

but i didn't know very much about the commands at that time.... tht's y i thought everything's ok but this time I will b fully prepared...... thanks for ur help anyways... ba bye..
ekiss 12-01-2008
hi guys i'm confused here?but i know with a little help i would pull through
Blaze 12-08-2008
You can use "interface fa0/0" it will work
remo 12-09-2008
Hi Guys i wrote an exam and failed only bcoz of router configuration

I got 18% in this basic router config and operation and in rest i got 4 * 100% and 88%, 86%, 66%

in this question how do i know where to place a switch and where to put router.
wrojash 12-09-2008
Hello Remo
I wrote my exam one week ago and failed too.

Answering your question I understand that the question stated that this topology contains 3 routers and 1 switch.

the switch is easy to identify because we see 2 interfaces as fa0/2 and fa0/4 (I dont know if exist router with more than 2 fa eth interfaces), so, it will be a switch.

I have one question to all members:

Why we cannot use the ip 192.168.152.161 in S0/0 interface of router in te right?

the same question to 192.168.152.177 or this address maybe will can use w/o problems?

thank to all and thank a lot to 9tut.com to help us in our exams.
9tut 12-10-2008
You can use 192.68.152.161 and 192.168.152.177 for S0/0 and Fa0/0 interfaces of the Main router if they have not been assigned to any interfaces yet. Please notice that in the real CCNA exam, there will be only one correct solution so make sure you understand how to choose the right ip addresses

Hi Guys

i have booked my ccna on 15 jan and at the moment i'm studing the P4S v3.22, has any one passed with the same revison matreails? and also if you cant do the above simualtion can you pass if u answer all the question?

many thanks for all your webside, great job great help
9tut 12-16-2008
One simulation question often gives you about 80 to 100 points if you solve it correctly. So don't miss any sim question!

With the information above you can calculate your chance to pass. Good luck!
holylua 12-17-2008
i have taken the exam today and passed it with 1000/1000. thank to 9tut very much for the labs you supply. I got all of them on my exam. thank again for you creating this wonderful website!!
all questions i got on p4s 3.22 and there's a new question about ipv6 unicast. They only ask you the charactersitics of this kind of address.

best everything to you!

If we doesn't save the running configuration? is it going to effect ?
i failed
the exam today with 10 marks i am retaking it on dec 26
please help me out\
9tut 12-19-2008
To matej: You are not allowed to use "show cdp neighbors" in this lab because they want to test your understanding about devices like router and switch, and your understanding about subnetting. But by using the "show cdp neighbors" command you can obtain all of the information, so they don't let you use it!

To Rakesh: We should save the running configuration although some reports said that it is unnecessary. We surely don't want to risk in the exam!
budhia 12-19-2008
Hi to everione and thanks to the author of this website, iam planning to do the ccna exam in january 2009 do you think this question of labs will change before to that date? sry bad english
Rakesh 12-20-2008
Thank u so much. the only mistake i did was this not saving the configuration i think it cost me my exam. any ways i am even more confident now i am taking the paper again on 26th dec. hopefully i will clear that...

thanks 9tut.....
Caleban 12-20-2008
Thank you 9tut and everyone who commented. I take the exam tomorrow and this was very helpful to practice with.
9tut 12-20-2008
To budhia: No one knows when they will update their questions. But I will try to update this site as soon as possible

In fact, they just often add new questions, not eliminate old ones so I think you will meet these labs in your exam

Hey.
Thanks for reply.

Well, I understand the concept of routers and switches and I did the sim correctly - I assigned the right IP addresses, enabled the interfaces and choosed the right cables - but the serial link connection was not operating so that is why I used command SHOW CDP NEIGHBOUR (which was allowed) and the link did not show in the main's router table (I was able to see the router on the left, but not the right one).
What could I do wrong?

I checked main router for IP addresses and then I assigned the right address to router on the right, I enabled the interface and checked the encapsulation type. Everything was fine and the link was up (interface and protocol was up), but the link was not working - SHOW CDP NEIGH. was not showing router on the right. What could I've done wrong?

(I also assigned all those passwords).

Please reply, thanks.
9tut 12-21-2008
Because "all devices have cable autosensing capabilities disabled" and your link was up so I can not confirm you did it right or wrong although the "show cdp neighbors" didn't show the router on the right.

From your list of work, you have done all things the question required and everything should be fine. But you should do it in the order I explained
basil 12-25-2008
hi all
i have passed the exam on monday 22/12/2008
about 85% of questions were from p4s 3.22
but the rest are unheared questions and relatively hard.
however i had this lab and vlans and dhcp questions
i got 976
thanks for this site
Jason 12-27-2008
Hi,

During the real exam, after we drag the routers on, will they automatically be Router1 and Router2? Do we need to set hostname for router 1 and router 2? We can just click on them and configure?
sriram 12-27-2008
hey 9tut can u please tell me which is the latest dumps for ccna??
p4s v3.22 or anything else???
Caleban 12-27-2008
Thanks for this great website!

I failed the exam, I'm taking ICND1, by 13 points last week. I think I forgot copy run start in at least one simulation when I took the exam. I'm not sure if it cost me points but I won't be as nervous and forget next time!

Most routers won't have a F0/4 interface? None of mine at home or at work do but I'm just asking to clarify that most routers have only F0/0 and F0/1 interfaces?
Fee 12-27-2008
I will be going this Monday Dec. 29th. I failed the exam about 2 weeks ago with a mark of 766 and then I found this site. I have been practicing and I hope to pass.
satti 12-28-2008
Hi..

During real exam can I use" ip addess ? " command . this command works ...?
9tut 12-28-2008
To Caleban: Yes, router doesn't have many interfaces so we can deduce it is a switch!

To satti: Maybe it will work but you should learn the full commands, they are not hard to remember
Gemcan 12-29-2008
Hi...

Just wonder if we did not type out the full commands: eg: configure terminal as config t, or no shutdown as no shut, or interface as int, will they be accepted and will any points be deducted?
Ishtiaq 12-29-2008
9tut thanks very much for such a good website. i got 953 marks. I had test on 27th december and had the same labs.
one thing i want to ask that i have done the lab right. routers were pinging each other. but my marks were 81 % in the EIGRP lab. i have done copy config command also. So what is the possible reason of the deduction. any formal way to doing problem ?
Pipe 12-29-2008
THANK YOU, 9tut, I passed today with a 953 as well. This was my second try. Everyone that is looking to certify good luck.

Thank you, again and hopefully you willl creat a CCNP web page link soon.
9tut 12-31-2008
To Ishtiaq: Cisco doesn't give us details about one question, just an overview for each section. So how did you know you got 81% in the EIGRP lab?

To David: please don't ask for software here...
Dan 01-01-2009
Do you need an exit command after no shut after configuring fa0/0 before moving on to fa0/1?
study 01-02-2009
Thanks a lot 9tut.. i cleared my ccna in style (02/01/2009). very interestingly i got all first 4 question from http://www.9tut.com/ccna-lab-sim :)

so target 1000!
9tut 01-02-2009
Congratulations, study!

To Dan: No, you don't!
Tom 01-03-2009
I took the CCNA exam today and passed with a 965. I used other resources to study, but your site (especially the sim explanations) put me over the top. Thanks!!!
david 01-03-2009
Maybe just like to ask...the moment we drag in the routers, r they immediately recognised as router 1 and router 2 without any hostname configuration?
sliffy 01-04-2009
Hi,
pass4sure 640-802 v3.22:
http://rapidshare.com/files/173894794/P4S_640-802_v3.22.rar

I didn't find the new v3.24 version...

hi 9tut,

any pointer to ccna security blog or you have any?
tigga 01-05-2009
Hi 9tut,

i am about to take exam soon and i didnt get it, until i stumbled across your site. This is an amazing and clear explanation and i am quite comfy right now because of your work.

Thanks alot and keep up the good work.
shadab 01-05-2009
why we multiply on fa0/0 16*11????? how come 11 here?
wu 01-05-2009
shadab,
The mask /28 gives you the block size of 16 host include network and broadcast address. Basically 14 is the usable hosts after minus 2.

16*11 , the 11 is just a number you multiply to get the correct block size of 16 hosts - 2 hosts(reserve for network and broadcast address) = 14 usuable hosts

As you can see below that block size16 multiply with an increment number(from 8 to 16) that will gives you a block size of 16 including network address and broadcast address.

16*8=128 < .129 and .142
16*9=144
16*10=160 < .172 and .174
16*11=176 < .178 and .177
16*12=192
16*13=208
16*14=224
wu 01-05-2009
(continue....)
16*14=224
wu 01-05-2009
(continue...for some reasons I can't a long message)

The sign < means less then
.129 and .142 addresses that live in the block of address 128-142, 143 is the broadcast address, 144 is the network address

Please take some times to absorb then you'll get it.

9tut, if you have better explaination please do. Thanks for having such a wonderful site!
9tut 01-05-2009
To david: No, they are just "Router>"

To study: CCNA security is rather new, sadly I don't have one

Thank wu for your good explanation. If someone doesn't understand that method then you can simply use the increment of 16 to figure out all the sub-network addresses. I list all the sub-network addresses below:

192.168.152.0
192.168.152.16
192.168.152.32
192.168.152.48
192.168.152.64
192.168.152.80
192.168.152.96
192.168.152.112
192.168.152.128
192.168.152.144
192.168.152.160
192.168.152.176
192.168.152.192

GSP001 01-06-2009
Hello,
I have now the trainings from ICND1 and 2 done. Now I will make the cert CCNA. How many questions do I have to learn from p4s3.22 ? all or do you know the 60 relevant questions ?
My problem is, I have alot of courses to do and done. Next week I start with MCITP in a bootcamp.
I have to pass all certs this is requrired from my company. What is your tip to do the exam for ccna ? in 3 days or later on ?

George
yasser 01-06-2009
I ask about host name of router 1 and 2 and clock rate of serial link of router 2 is missing in answer above?????????
tom 01-06-2009
thanks for these, massive help!
sriram 01-07-2009
what is the new version for the ccna dumps???
pls help me mr.9tut!!!!
9tut 01-07-2009
To scooby: I explained why we have to use these cables, please read the above comment (on 11-12-2008)

To GSP001: You should learn all. And my advice is you should pay attention to lab questions because each of them will bring you 80 to 100 marks

To yasser: In the real exam, you will see the router as "Router>", not Router1 or Router2.
We don't need to configure clock rate because it is not required from the question. Just do what the question requires!
To sriram: You can use p4s v3.22
sriram 01-07-2009
9tut .... p4s+Qns in this site will it do ???
Baraka 01-08-2009

Hi 9TU

I really did not underatand the part finding IP address range

is there any quick and easy way of finding ip address and allot to other devices
remo 01-10-2009
Hi 9tu

when i failed last time i have got another question from simulation related to routing

is there any chance that you can update this sites with more simulations before 14 as I am haviong exam on 15th

thanks
Milan 01-10-2009
Hi 9tut,

I was just wondering, all the sim questions you have on your site, do they cover all of the possible sim scenarios that you'd encounter during the exam? I understand that questions might be different, and Ips, but the underlying solution to any given sim question (that you're aware of) can be answered if you understand the theory behind your questions?
sriram 01-11-2009
hi 9tut !! in the real exam after configuring the router.... can we use ping command to test it???? pls reply soon !!!
revij 01-11-2009
Hello guys

anyone who has passed 2nd time can please tell me if you get questions from p4s 3.22 and 9tu

getting nervous

thanks
9tut 01-12-2009
To saumya: Please review your CCNA book, in general we find the increment number from the subnet mask (e.g. 255.255.255.252 -> increment = 4).

To remo: Please read my above comment, it would be easire if you create a list of increment of 16 and find which group the IP address belongs to

You can view all the simulation questions at 9tut.com/ccna-lab-sim. There has no new sim question so far

To Milan: Yes, my site has all the sim in the real exam

To sriram: Yes, you can use ping to test your result

Finally, good luck to you!

Someone told me that "CONTROL Z" and "END" did not work, it did not take them from GLOBAL config mode back to privilege mode. Has anyone experienced this?
pikes4ever 01-12-2009
When Cisco updates their exam (about every 90 days) do they only add one sim and a few new questions to the mix or do they remove all old sims and add all new ones?
Australia 01-15-2009

i am preparing from 9tut,if any changes in dumbs please post it ,
bcoz it will help lots of people and mewho are pursung for exam this month.
there is rumour that v3.22 is upadted by 431 new questions ,,,
is it true r not?
abhi 01-26-2009
go with pass 4 sure 3.22, fro simulations 9tut is d best. but remember they will change the ip addresses, u miust be v good at subnetting concepts, like ex: if he givs u an ip add 192.168.16.23/28 (cidr notation), u must be able to calculate what is the n/w address and what is the broadcast address!!!! all d best

Increment: 16 (/28 = 255.255.255.240 or 1111 1111.1111 1111.1111 1111.1111 0000)
Network address: 192.168.152.176 (because 176 = 16 * 11 and 176 < 178)
Broadcast address: 192.168.152.191 (because 191 = 176 + 16 - 1)

can you tell how 11 came(i.e) 16*11

I passed yesterday! Everything on 9tut and p4s 3.22 plus boot camp.
9tut 01-28-2009
To guna: In short, 11 is the integer division of 178 with 16 ( 178 / 16 = 11)

Congratulations, gcorad!

Hi,

I have concern about this simulater

I think Router1 - interface fa0/0

IP address should be

both 192.168.152.177 and 192.168.152.190 are corect because both IP addreses are in same subnet.

pls. reply me
9tut 01-29-2009
Yes, both 192.168.152.177 and 192.168.152.190 are correct answers but please remember the ip addresses in the real CCNA exam may be different. If the ip address of Fa0/0 of the Main router is not 192.168.152.177 then you can use it instead of 192.168.152.190. Same for the router on the right
JF 01-31-2009
Hi Tut,

Before i found you site i did the exam and failed. I got a question in the exam similar to this question. I was getting an error when i was assigning an ip address to the fa0/0 interface of the router, i was getting an error lilke 192.168.152.0 overlaps with Fastethernet0/0. I panicked and could'nt figure out what i was doing wrong and ended up having to move on. Can you please advise what i might have been doing wrong so it does'nt happen to me again, i have the exam booked for the 11th, thanks for your help,

arman 02-01-2009
Hi,Can anyone tell me quickest way to find the network add?how come 8,10,11 always multiply by 16?plz show me easiest way.
Thanks.
abhi 02-02-2009
@ arman and all:
the n/w add and broadcst add can be found thro the cidr notation. for example take 192.168.25.12/28, 28 shows that out of 32 bits in a ip address, 28bits are used for network portions and remaining 4 bits are used for host portions. this shows that, in a network with /28 cidr notation, there are 28 network bits and 4 host bits (subnet mask= 255.255.255.240). 4 host bits in the sense, the no of hosts are 2^4= 16(with 14 usable hosts). so let us now get back to our example. here the given ip is 192.168.25.12/28, this falls in the range of 192.168.25.0 to 192.168.25.15 (because in /28, we have 16 hosts out of which 14 are usable, the 1st (192.168.25.0) is n/w address and the last ( 192.168.25.15) is broadcast add), i think it is clear to you. kindly practise with as many random examples as u can and please get back if u have any doubts.

Michel 02-04-2009
Hi, According to the answer here the left down computer uses CROSS OVER cable to connect to router....

According to your below explanation, devices of same level can use cross over cables rite?....

can u explain a bit for me pls?

thanks

- To connect two serial interfaces of 2 routers we use serial cable
- To specify when we use crossover cable or straight-through cable, we should remember:
Group 1: Router, Host, Server
Group 2: Hub, Switch
Device in group 1 + device in group 2: use straight-through cable
Two devices in the same group: use crossover cable
For example: we use straight-through cable to connect switch to router, switch to PC, hub to PC and we use crossover cable to connect switch to switch, switch to hub, router to router, Host to Host...
Tharaka 02-04-2009
To Michel : It mean to connect host or server directly to router you need to use crossover cable and to connect switch to another switch again you need to use crossover cable. but remember to access router for administration purposes then you need to use rollover (console) cable.

Runiya 02-04-2009
Dear 9Tut,

I have created all these sims into a PacketTracer 5.1 format.
You can download them here :

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=279b2c0c73b46357d8f14848abf485dde04e75f6e8ebb871

Or visit :

http://www.sadikhov.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=154009

Feel free to check them out and you are ofcourse allowed to upload these on your website.
Many thanks for all the time and effort you put into this website.
9tut 02-04-2009
To ab+ccna: The SIMs are not too hard if you studied well. Each SIM is about 80 to 100 marks so you can calcucate your chance to pass.
Just feel comfortable when working with SIMs
9tut 02-04-2009
To Runiya: Thank you very much for your work! Now candidates will have a chance to practice them
9tut 02-04-2009
To Tharaka: No, you can't use command " enable secret" to configure enable password
runiya 02-05-2009
Dear 9tut,

It is you who I thank. You have done all the hard work, not me.
I merely copied your work into PacketTracer.

btw the console password of the 'inaccessible' routers like the ISP routers, console password is "noway"
Michale 02-06-2009
Hi Guys,

Did the exam today and failed. 775 marks...

The question that I have got through was THIS ONE which I did wrong (I knew it)...

My re-schedule exam is on next week. All Q from P4Sure and here 9tut.

Thanks for the lots of info - pulished here.

Give me guts! - doing 2nd time soon!

-----------------------------------------------------------

How I do the calculation is:

Based on Fa0/0 - 192.168.152.178 255.255.255.240

Increment is = 16 (Got it via the table ..... )

Then I consider 16 into values to see which values come less or equivalent to 178.... like this

16 x 10 = 160
16 x 11 = 176
Michale 02-06-2009
where 176 is near value to 178

So took 176

Then did;
176 + 16 = 192
192 - 1 = 191

and again less 191 - 1 = 190

which i got the: 190 value

Therefore I choose = 192.168.152.190 / 28
as the answer

--------------any better ways ? --------------
runiya 02-06-2009
I had this sim today on my exam. I was able to successfully ping from the left router to the main router and back. BUT, on the serial line ( s0/0 ) I was only able to ping 1 way from the router to the main router, but not from the main router back ?.. I think it was bugged
Michale 02-06-2009
Hi Runiya,

Can you explain me please the way og getting IP Adresses?... Is my way (above your comment) correct?...
9tut 02-06-2009
Yes, you were right, Michale. But no need to do 191 - 1 = 190, you can pick up a value from 176 to 191 (176 < x < 191 and x is not 178)
Harrison 02-07-2009

I had the exam yesterday and I did not pass. I had the above lab with diff ip address. if you want to pass you need to be very fast. I knew the answer to all question but time was not enough. calculator is not allowed. can anyone tell me what is the fastest way to know the network number for any subnet.
I will retake the exam next week.

Thanks
Kimo 02-12-2009
.. also, is it possible I will have the same labs or they are going to change it ?

Thank you for yor help

Lot of thanks to 9tut , sadikhov.com.I passed my exam yesterday with 976/1000
All the questions came from 9tuters and P4S 3.22 but some of questions had more options than P4S 3.22.U can easily figure out it.All the Labs questions was in the 9tut site, only different was IP address.
Good luck guys.

Tharaka r u sure. no need of testking and testinside?.
i have testking, pass4sure, testinside what is best for ccna?
what is the version we need to study for exam...............
cris 02-14-2009
Hi,

This lab doesn't require to configure the hostname(as ex: Router1 and Router2)? Also when finish the configuration is not a good idea to ping between devices?
cris 02-14-2009
Sorry about ping question. In order to be able to ping first you have to configure PC users and then to enable a routing protocol between routers. I am tired...
Confucious 02-15-2009
This SIM states "All devices have cable autosensing capabilities disabled".

Wouldn't that mean that speed and duplex need to be set on the interfaces with the 'speed' and 'duplex' interface commands?

BTW. Awesome job with this site 9tut! Your efforts are very much appreciated!
9tut 02-15-2009
To Confucious: "All devices have cable autosensing capabilities disabled" means that you might not ping from one router to another
Tom 02-15-2009
Runiya, thanks for posting the sims in PacketTracer 5.1 format.

9tut, thanks for your efforts on the site.

I have an update for "9tut.com CCNA RIP Configuration Answered" (downloaded from the post you made above on 02/04/2009).

If you perform the "show ip route" command on "2811 Router", as solved in "CCNA RIP Configuration Answered", there is only one route that shows - the directly connected Fast Ethernet route. The directly connected serial route does not appear in the table nor does the FastEthernet route on the "far end" (two hops away). The router on the serial side also has to be configured. Otherwise, the serial connection stays down.

On the other router (2811 R1-RT), across a serial connection, I configured the serial interface, issued a no shutdown, and issued the RIP routing commands as was done on the "2811 Router" side. Also issued "clock rate" command on both sides to be safe (need to find out if only one side is sufficient). However, I did not add the "no auto-summary" command as was done on "2811 Router" in the "CCNA RIP Configuration Answered" posted at your link above. Not really sure it is necessary. I am thinking because the related subnet is a directly connected network.

Anyway, the serial link came up. I was able to ping across the serial link. The directly connected serial link, a RIP route, and the previously existing FastEthernet directly connected link then appeared in the routing table upon issuing "show ip route".
Tom 02-15-2009
(continued)

... (need to find out if needed on both sides). I did not issue the "no auto summary command". I don't think it was necessary since the relevant subnet was directly connected.

Anyway, the serial link came up, and I could ping across the serial link. Upon issuing "show ip route", there were now three entries: the previous FastEthernet directly connected, the new serial link directly connected, and a RIP entry for a FastEthernet link across the serial link.
Tom 02-15-2009
Regards "CCNA NAT sim question" exercise for Packet Tracer 5.1 posted by Runiya on 02/04/2009, the statement problem said that "The appropriate interfaces have been configured for NAT inside and NAT outside". However, they were not configured. It took me a little while to figure that out. I entered the corresponding "IP Nat Inside" and "IP Nat Outside" configurations. It worked. No biggie.

That raises a question. Can they do that in the actual CCNA exam? In other words, can they state that something is configured as a starting point but it is actually not? Is there tricky stuff like that?
ciscoconfused 02-16-2009
is there a shortest approach, instead of doing this?

9tut 01-05-2009

To david: No, they are just "Router>"

To study: CCNA security is rather new, sadly I don't have one

Thank wu for your good explanation. If someone doesn't understand that method then you can simply use the increment of 16 to figure out all the sub-network addresses. I list all the sub-network addresses below:

192.168.152.0
192.168.152.16
192.168.152.32
192.168.152.48

9tut, you are too much. This site really helped me. I took the exam on the 14th morning and got 895. 3 of the labs here came out though with different values(ip addresses). it was a wonderful experience. I give all glory to GOD. For those preparing, just read well, master the labs and the pass4sure questions. Also know the commands to give to the routers for you to get the information you want.
Wishing you all the best.
9tut, weldone.
Cheers

Hi Kartik,

May i ask what lab simulations qus did u get? Is it all the same from this website?

Any new qus not from p4s?

thks...
9tut 02-16-2009
To Tom: Don't worry about that, in the real CCNA exam, you won't need to configure NAT inside and NAT outside
9tut 02-16-2009
To TAN: The main idea is you have to assign IP addresses which belong to the same sub-networks as the opposite interfaces

Please read above comments about IP 192.168.152.173 and 192.168.152.177
Frankwhite 02-17-2009
Dear All,
Pls try and get to know which interface is which before you configured. I mistook the interface for one another and it cost me some marks.

This question is a sure banker in the exams, and hardly can you avoid the question.
I took my exams yesterday and scored 918.

Cheers to you all.

frank4everybody@yahoo.com
Frankwhite 02-17-2009
To TAN

You can get the interface by showing runnig configuration on any of the routers and that will tell which interface are available to be configured.

Then know which one is for LAN and for the router connection.
I took mine yesterday anad got 918 because i mistook the interface on the left router for one another.

Wish you best of luck.

frankwhite.

Hi all,

I took my CCNA exam today and cleared with 965/1000.

All the questions were from P4S-3.22 and 9tut.
Thanks 9tut.

VTP ,
Drag and Drop
EIGRP SIM
and Implementation(3 routers and 1 Switch) were the lab Simulations that i got

There were changes only in IP addresses, everythin else were the same.
Brian 02-20-2009
I have 2 questions for this lab.
1. After you have setup the IP addresses for ports connected to Main router does it matter what IP addresses you use for ports connected to the switches and pcs? And at that point does it matter which IP address you assign to each PC? It seems as long as you eliminate the IP addresses that are in the hosts range of the Main router, you can put the rest of the IP addresses anywhere you want.

2. Do you set the passwords on the "Main" router as well??
cisco 02-20-2009
Guys .. the question says :
Configure the interfaces with the correct IP address and enable the interfaces.

is that means we have to configure the 2 other interfaces facing the switch and the PC ?
chris 02-20-2009
Hi,

I passed the exam, all questions from here but I got all 6 labs, I didn't have time to answer all questions ( 3 of them- 48 total). Eigrp lab little bit changed but I lost 5 min with it because the computer frozen. Any way good luck to everyone.

9tut there are something similar like this site for CCNA Voice and CCVP?
THANKS
9tut 02-20-2009
To Brian:
1. In the exam, you can only assign one IP address for one interface and surely each port will only have one suitable IP address for it.
2. No, just set the passwords on Router1 and Router2

To cisco: Yes, we have to configure interfaces Fa0/0, Fa0/1 of Router1 and S0/0, Fa0/0 of Router2

To chris: No, I don't have one...
9tut 02-20-2009
I updated the IP addresses on Fa0/0 and S0/0 of the Main router so no one will be confused why there are 2 suitable IP addresses for Router1 and Router2
naveen 02-21-2009
Is there any sequence in which we should drag and drop...i heard people say that the marks are reduced due to improper sequence !!??...is this true??

Chance 02-23-2009
I don't know if anyone mentioned it or not (lot of comments), but the reason the bottom right is a switch isn't because it has 2 FA ports. It's because the workstation connected to the device is using a straight-through cable.

Because of that cable, a router couldn't go in that spot, which means it has to be a switch.
kash 02-23-2009
If you configured this lab with all correct steps, and did some mistake on ip address etc, ,
cisco will give the full marks for it or will accept it as all this lab "Wrong Answer "?
9tut 02-24-2009
To laamouri: Read all the comments on the "Share your experience" and other sections, you will find mall the information you need

To Chance: No, we have to place devices before placing cables for them...

To kash: No one can confirm about it...

how many ethernet interfaces (maximum) can a router have, i mean you said Fa0/4 should be the interface of a switch.

And please inform me if there is a newer p4s(newer than p4s 3.22)
Anonymous 02-25-2009
9tut, we have to place the items before placing the cables, but if you look at the scenario provided by Cisco, the item in the bottom right already has the straight through cable.

Pass with 941 couple of days ago.... Thanks 9tut for your great help. All the questions from 9tut and 3.22. I got Implementations sim (3 Routers and 1 Switch), Eigrp, VTP, Drag and Drop, DHCP, hot spot. Total 48 questions quite easy ‘unexpectedly’. Was just stuck in Implementations sims ‘unexpectedly’ so decide to leave it rather then wasting the time on, so that’s why I got 941. But still happy (Alhamdulillah)..... Thanks again to every body who helping on this great forum.... God Bless You.

Yes, it's a nice surprise that I didn't notice about the link connecting between PC and the bottom-right device. I updated the page with the information provided. Thanks all!

G'day All,

Q) Identity the 4 valid IPV6 addresses (choose 4)
1) ::
2) ::192:168:0:1
3) 2000::
4) 2001:3452:4952:2837::

6) 2003:dead:beef:4dad:23:46:bb:101

What is the correct answer...

The IPv6 Q above was on my test!

FYI, Took CCNA exam yesterday 2/29/09. Only 1/3 of P4S 3.22 were on test. Only 1 9tut SIM was on test.
Four IPv6 questions on exam.
Time was an issue because I took too long on the labs.

Know subnetting
Know ACL's for Labs and SIM's
Sotong 03-01-2009
hi Blank,

Thanks , do you rememeber the rest of the IPv6 qn.

9tut -- what is the correct answer ( see last post by me) . I c diff answer.
Great Website 03-01-2009
hey blank,
you see any new lab bsides the Access list?
from current understanding, only access list is new lab (frame relay just need to know the command to get the info).

You see any other lab that is totally new? From your post, you say only one lab from 9tut, there should be more lab in the exam right?
portains 03-02-2009
sotong, valid IPV6 addresses are in the range of 2000::/3
answer:3,4,5,6
blank 03-02-2009
The NAT lab changed. Instead of creating an ACL, you have to apply the NAT pool to the S0/0 interface.
gech 03-02-2009
hi @ blank

do you mean the access list is already defined
and what do you mean you have to apply it to the s0/0 interface
- ip nat ouside or
- ip nat inside source list 2 interface s0/0

Rodrigo A Chacon 03-11-2009
Hello EVERYONE.

I took my test today and I failed miserably, I feel SO BAD, I really studied HARD, read 9tut and pass4sure and nothing.

I don't know if Cisco changed the test but no a single simulation we have here I got on the test NO A SINGLE ONE.

I got like 5 simulation and 5 drag and drop, I was paying very much attention because everybody said to me STUDY THE SIMULATIONS, well I did study them and practice them with Packet Tracer and nothing man, I didn't get any of the one I practice, NO EIGRP questions, I was told that was a must on the test.

But, oh well, I am going to concentrate right now on MS exams (I am taking MCITP) and as soon as I done with this I am going back to Cisco.

thanks anyway for all your help and input.

Rodrigo
Johnman 03-11-2009

may i just ask if it would ONLY be the routers that needs to be configured and no need for the switch?

also, would it be acceptable if i make use of the 'end' command instead of using 'exit' after finishing each configuration?

many thanks!!!

how to decrypt tenlet secret password

What command is use to see the password ...
CCNA-Bman 04-27-2009
Passed today with 896. 4 sims and a boatload of questions. Frame relay, NAT, RIP, and ACL sims. Just a note the answer is "no configuration needed on the password question for the fram relay sim.

Thanks for all the information here but the real solution to passing this is to study the course material. Studying the sims will make you quicker at answering them but you still need to understand the questions due to the change of things like IP addresses and so on. The course material is a must - this will get you through test.

i tr00f i 05-11-2009
This sim is the easiest I think as long as you know one thing. SUBNETTING. Those of you who will think the IP's will be the same and you can just memorize it you will FALL APART in the exam room as they are different.

This sim if you are not careful can take you 10 minutes. First you are looking at the main router, doing a show run. You discover the ip address on each interface and find out the subnet mask. From that mask you then have to figure out what are the ranges of network addresses? Once you have that you can place the ip's in the right slots.

Then you have the connections. If you want to know WHY it is a a switch at bottom. Sure a straight through goes to it, but most routers have 2 fast ethernet interfaces (unless you have a 3550 or something, then that could be diff) so I saw fast 0/4 and I knew it was a switch. But you have to use BOTH methods to confirm.

Then you hop over to the left router or the right (doesn't matter really) and take care of the easy stuff right away

do the line con 0, line vty 0 4 and MAKE SURE TO PUT LOGIN afterwords. Why? Cuz if you don't you won't be able to login

You can test it by not putting it on there and try. I set all the passwords up, then set the interfaces up with ip's and of course the "no shutdown" (this is a common mistake, people just forget!) I then back out (logout)
and then log back in using the passwords.

Hop over to the other router, same thing set it up and then poof done.

Know subnetting people, otherwise the test will rape you.

BTW, did I say know subnetting? Yes of course I did!

Pls tell in which website can i find the best ways to learn subnetting from the basics. (The multiples of 16, -11.......). I am not writing the exam just bcoz of this topic.
Do u have a blog where you have clearly explained it??

"Router1(config)#enable secret privpw" is correct but only IF!!! the question asked u to encrypt the Password
George 06-14-2009
@9tut

Quick question, why did we use 16*11, 16*10, 16*8 and 16*14 for the network addresses? All I know is that the classless /28 is equivalent to 11111111.11111111.11111111.11110000 that's why it's 16 but where did you we get those 11,10,8 and 14? Thanks in advance! I got confused there
George 06-14-2009
Should we just divide the network address by 16 to come up with those number?
abdul 06-17-2009
16 is the block size;after subtracting the sum of the binary digits 128+64+32+16=240 from 256 you get 16.this 16 is the block size.hope i am correct.i am also yet to take the exam.

9tut,

For setting the privilege mode password in this sim, you used "enable password". Can we use the " enable secret" command instead of "enable password" in this lab?

Many thanks,
9tut 09-23-2009
No, "enable password" and "enable secret" are two different commands and give different results so you have to use exactly.

Hi ! 9tut and all members
I just passed my CCNA exam, I got 986/1000 marks.

Some of the highlights of the exam:
NAT Lab Sim
Ripv2 Lab Sim
Frame-Relay Sim

And also a couple of normal questions that I didn't not see
during my study journey.

The exam is not too dificult. I studied Pass4sure v8.14 and Lab sims
from this Site.

Thanks 9tut, you're the man!

9tut

Great great site. What excellent tool to help prepare for the test!! I have learned so much from this site slone. Can't thank you enough. I hear others say the IPs will probably change on the SIMs; is this the case on all the questions throughout?

Thanks
9tut 10-31-2009
Yes, IPs will be changed, not only on the SIMs but all of the questions.
MJFC 11-01-2009

Hello dear 9tut!
Please tell me once again, what is the way to access routers 1 and 2? Using Packet Tracer I should click on routers' icons to get their CLIs. And what about the real exam? Will there be additional PCs for R1 and R2 to get to CLIs?
Should I check the telnet and console accessability after configuring all the passwords?
Thanx in advance!
9tut 11-09-2009
In the real exam, just click on PC to access their CLIs.

Hello All,

I cleared my CCNA Exam with a score of 1000/1000 recently.

I would sincerely like to Thank 9tut admins and tech guys for providing very good explanations to the questions especially LAB SIMS.

Some highlights of my EXAM.

Lab Sims:

Frame Relay
RIPv2
NAT with 32 host addresses

Split:

70% Questions came from Pass4sure 8.14
15% LAB SIMS given in 9tut.com
15% Questions came from TCP/IP basic concepts and WLAN, VLan concepts

Suggestions to Test Takers:

Read and Practice from the following resources and you will definitely score 100%

1. CCNA: Cisco Certified Network Associate Study Guide: Exam 640-802, 6th Edition, Todd Lammle
2. CCENT/CCNA ICND1 Official Exam Certification Guide, 2nd Edition
3. CCNA ICND2 Official Exam Certification Guide (CCNA Exams 640-816 and 640-802) (2nd Edition)

4. Pass4sure : Latest Dumps. See pass4sure site for the Latest dumps version.

5. 9tut : LAB SIMS. These guys have accurate explanations.

Also, Practice Subnetting very very hard. Understand the concepts and practice daily on subnetting

That's it.

Happy certification.

Cheers ! ! !

why 176 + 16, not 177 + 16?
realworld 12-08-2009
in example of packet tracer. when show running-config in main router. found 178 for f0/0 and 172 for s0/0. all /28. Its we need to incremnet 16 from this like explaination showed abiove..?
9tut 12-09-2009
176 is the network address, not 177. Make sure you understand about subnetting well before taking the exam.

The increment of 16 depends on the subnet mask. In the real exam, the increment might be different.

thank you
geofrey 02-01-2010
pliz i don't understand wat an increment is and where u get the numbers to multiply with an increment to get the network address e.g 16*10
meesh 02-05-2010
hi frns wat s the broadcast address for tis ip 192.168.152.177/28 plz tell me..
meesh 02-05-2010
in my point of view 192.168.152.177/28 here there r 28 bits are used,so 8+8+8+4=28 0r 11111111 11111111 11111111 1111 0000 so in the 4th octet 4 bits r used therefore the increment value s 16.... 192.168.152.177(177+16=193) so 192.168.152.177 to 192.168.152.193 here the broadcast ip s 192.168.152.192 only plz say its right r wrong?

Hi 9tut,
I ve understand everything except one. I read some of the comments and they says that we need to use show running-config to find the serial and ethernet interface IP addresses of main routers, yeah it iz possible. But in exam will they show that which side of the main router has serial link nd which has ethernet link.I mean to say in the above diagram the right hand interface is connected via serail link and the left hand is connected via fastethernet. Will cisco mention it on diagram or do we need to find out ? Because if we dont know which side of the main router is serial or ethernet we cannot even put the cables properly.
Thankss...
