Please share with us your experience after taking the exam, your materials, the way you learned, your recommendations…

According to the comments here and some other places, you might see the EIGRP, VTP, Access-list 2 sims (Access-list 2 is an old sim but they revived it). And one notice in the VTP sim is they can change the root bridge and the Configuration Revision Number so make sure you grasped the concept.

Make sure you understand all the sim-labs on this site because all the sims you might see in your exam were posted here.

I will continue to update this page when I get news about the exam. If you know anything new, please comment here (especially about lab-sim questions). All of us are waiting for your guide!

Note: We have a topic of Frequently Asked Questions & Tips for CCNA learners, surely you will find valuable information about the CCNA exam there.

Your posts are warmly welcome!

Hope you will find useful information from friends who have taken the CCNA exam!

    Refer to the exhibit. Why is flash memory erased prior to upgrading the IOS image from the TFTP server?

    A. The router cannot verify that the Cisco IOS image currently in flash is valid
    B. Flash memory on Cisco routers can contain only a single IOS image.
    C. Erasing current flash content is requested during the copy dialog.
    D. In order for the router to use the new image as the default, it must be the only IOS image in flash.

    @varma.

    option C. is requested during copy. maybe the other options may seem correct at times, but the key is the name of the IOS. you see the current name and the new IOS name are the same, but the router can not have 2 IOS with the SAME NAME, so it request to delete the old one.

  6. ECIUM
    June 7th, 2011

    @dissum

    FLASH: not erased after reload: store IOS images.
    NVRAM: not erased after reloady : stores system configuration files
    RAM: erased after reload : current configuration., also caches, route tables, topologies,

    hope this helps.

    When troubleshooting a Frame Relay connection, what is the first step when performing a loopback
    test?
    A. Set the encapsulation of the interface to HDLC.
    B. Place the CSU/DSU in local-loop mode.
    C. Enable local-loop mode on the DCE Frame Relay router.

    Answer is A because frame relay doesnt support loopback test, then you have to change the encap to HDLC, make the test, and then change to frame-relay encap again.

    I will try to find the source, as i learned this 2 months ago, but i forgot from where.

    Users have been complaining that their Fram Relay connection to the corporate site is very slow. The network administrator suspects that the link is overloaded. Based on the partial output of the Router# show frame relay pvc command show in the graphic, Which output value indicates to the local router that traffic sent to the corporate site is experiencing congestion?
    Question
    A. DLCE=100
    B. last time PVC status changed 00:25:40
    C. in BECN packets 192
    D. in FECN packets 147
    E. in DF packet 0
    Answer: C

    I think D, Can someone explain this question?

  52. ECIUM
    June 8th, 2011

    @Jwell,

    it is pretty easy in fact.

    you have to take care of BENCS and FECNS.

    Bencs refers to traffic error information you send.
    Fecns refers to traffic error information you receive.

    error informations means packets that are lost in the network, posibly because of network conecction.

    So in the exhibit you see out and in BEncs and out and in FENCS.

    you need to see the OUT part. because the questions talk about traffic sent.
    then you need to put your attention on the BENCS packets 259, that tell us there is a problem in the network.

    so we must remember that a high number of BENCS packets means congentions. low or no BENCS packets tell us our network links are good.

  53. ECIUM
    June 8th, 2011

    @iwell

    “error informations means packets that are lost in the network, posibly because of network conecction.” i meant “network congestion.”

    @ECIUM

    EIGRP number in the picture is not 212.
    and u can only access to router 3 from host D.

    @Jwell
    Answer C is correct.
    You send traffice, then receive BECN, target receive FECN.
    If you are sent traffice, then receive FECN, Souce receive BECN.

    !
    interface Serial0/0

    router eigrp 212
    network 192.168.60.0
    no auto-summary

  66. Ecium
    June 8th, 2011

    @disum

    just looking the output i can tell you this.

    when you stablish which network to route in eigrp you can do it in many ways.
    in this particular case i can see that this commands where use:
    ——
    router eigrp 212
    network 192.168.60.0
    ——

    After that the network and the routing will work just fine, because every interface matching that network address will be part of the routing. You can verify this doing “Show ip route” command.

    On the other side and answering your question, the above scenario is ONE way to configure eigrp. You could also do this:

    —-
    router eigrp 212
    network 192.168.128 0 0.0.0.3
    network 192.168.144 0 0.0.0.3
    network 192.168.24 0 0.0.0.3
    —–

    and the routing will work just fine and you would see this output for “sh running”

    OUTPUT OMMITED–

    interface Serial0/1
    ip address 192.168.60.26 255.255.255.252
    !
    router eigrp 212
    network 192.168.128 0 0.0.0.3
    network 192.168.144 0 0.0.0.3
    network 192.168.24 0 0.0.0.3
    no auto-summary
    !
    ip classless

    ——————-

    I have answered you from memory.. i havent done the pkt lab… so you can test what i tell you, i am pretty sure i am right.

    Same commands like here in 9tut, but remember we will get all 5 Q on single page cuz some ppl just answer 1 thinking they get 2nd Q once they click next…. we cannot go back in the exam.

    But in EIGRP we click concerned outers and Console PC in ACL lab

    A network administrator needs to allow only one Telnet connection to a router. For anyone viewing the

    Which set of commands will accomplish this task?
    A. service password-encryption
    access-list1 permit 192. 168. 1. 0. 0. 0. 0. 255
    login
    password cisco

    QNo-282 from tkv218

    Refer to the exhibit. An organization connects two locations, supporting two VLANs, through two
    switches as shown. Inter-VLANs communication is not required. The network is working properly and there
    is full connectivity. The organization needs to add additional VLANs, so it has been decided to implement
    VTP. Both switches are configured as VTP servers in the same VTP domain. VLANs added to Switch1 are
    not learned by Switch2. Based on this information and the partial configurations in the exhibit, what is the
    problem?

    A. Switch2 should be configured as a VTP client.
    B. VTP is Cisco proprietary and requires a different trunking encapsulation.
    C. A router is required to route VTP advertisements between the switches.
    D. STP has blocked one of the links between the switches,limiting connectivity.

    No auto-summary : Automatic summarization at classful boundaries can cause problems on discontinuous subnets.

    @Deepak:
    Answer: AE

    Explanation:

    The loading sequence of CISCO IOS is as follows:
    Booting up the router and locating the Cisco IOS
    1. POST (Power on self test)
    2. Bootstrap code executed
    3. Check Configuration Register value(NVRAM) which can be modified using the config-register command
    0 = ROM Monitor mode
    1 = ROM IOS
    2 – 15 = Startup-config in NVRAM
    4. Startup-config file: Check for boot system commands(NVRAM)
    IF boot system commands in startup-config
    a. Run boot system commands fail, use default fallback sequence to locate the IOS(Flash, TFTP, ROM)?]
    If no boot system commands in startup-config use the default fallback sequence in locating the IOS:
    a. Flash (sequential)
    b. TFTP server (netboot)
    c. ROM(partial IOS) or keep retrying TFTP depending upon router model
    5. If IOS is loaded, but there is no startup-config file, the router will use the default fallback sequence for locating the IOS and then it will enter setup mode or the setup dialogue
    6. If no IOS can be loaded, the router will get the partial IOS version from ROM

    Good luck!
