Share your CCNA Experience

March 7th, 2020 Go to comments

The new CCNA 200-301 has come to replace the old CCNA 200-125 exam so we create the “Share your new CCNA Experience” for everyone to share their experience to prepare for this new exam.

We have a topic of Frequently Asked Questions & Tips for CCNA learners, surely you will find valuable information about the CCNA exam there.

Note:
+ The CCNA 200-301 exam include lab sims, multiple choice and Drag drop questions.
+ You can use shortcut command (like “int”, “no sh”, “conf t”…), “tab” and “?” in the simulations of the exam.
+ The lab sims will be shown at the beginning, not in the middle of the exam (changed since November 2025). Currently there are 4 lab sims in each exam.

Please share with us your experience to prepare for the new CCNA 200-301 exam, your materials, the way you learned, your recommendations… But please DO NOT share any information about the detail of the exam or your personal information, your score, exam date and location, your email…

Your posts are warmly welcome! Hope you will find useful information from friends who have taken the new CCNA exam!

Hi – Looking for guidance on the composite quizzes. I’m assuming people are mostly doing the Big batch. How many times are you taking the composite quiz daily until you feel fully ready to go for the CCNA?

How are the 4 labs simulated during the exam? Is it through Packet Tracer, GNS3, similar to the online task simulator?

Hi guys, I passed. 4 labs, all from here but with tiny tweaks. They were really easy and straightforward though: I had Vlan with lldp, Ospf with Dr, ipv4 and ipv6 assignments with subnetting, then Etherchannel. Almost all the questions were from here, 98%. I focused on question banks 9 – 16 but brushed lightly through 5-7.

For questions: I got a lot of Ip connectivity, sdn, wireless and subnetting. Good luck!!!

Hey, guys! I just passed my exam last Monday; there were four labs: 1) VLAN Trunking/LACP ; 2) OSPF (configure R2 as DR and advertise the networks); 3) Voice VLAN/LLDP; and 4) IPv4 and IPv6 assignment (in my case, just assign the first and last addresses for both), plus 72 questions. I’m really grateful to 9tut, and good luck if your exam date is coming up.
Just relax and try to breathe :)

I have a question: in the actual exam, is it the same as the 9tut labs, or do I need to open and configure each switch, or just fill in the boxes?

Anonymous, April 8th: you have to click on the device icon, open the CLI and use the appropriate commands. Not like the “fill in the boxes” Labs here

For those who passed the exam, did you focus only on the new CCNA questions, or did you also study CCNA 200-301?

    Question 70
Drag and drop the characteristic from the left onto the IPv6 address type on the right.

    Anycast_Multicast.jpg

Please type the corresponding numbers of each item on the left to the blank below and sort them in ascending order. For example: 1324 (which means 13 for first group, 24 for second group).

Please type your answer here: 2314 (correct answer: 1324)Wrong

    Explanation
    Answer:

    Anycast
+ cannot be used as a source address
+ is routed to the nearest interface that has the address

    Multicast
+ is assigned to multiple devices on the same network simultaneously
    + provides one-to-many communications

    Explanation

An anycast address is an address that is assigned to a set of interfaces that typically belong to different nodes. A packet sent to an anycast address is delivered to the closest interface (as defined by the routing protocols in use) identified by the anycast address.

For the option “cannot be used as a source address”, it is correct for both Anycast and Multicast so we have to assign it to Multicast as other options are only suitable for Anycast.

Reference: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios-xml/ios/ipv6_basic/configuration/xe-3se/5700/ip6-anycast-add-xe.html Attention 9tut: The explanation is contradictory. It states that “cannot be used as a source address” should be assigned to Multicast, but the official correct answer (1324) places it under Anycast. Please review and fix the explanation so it matches the answer.

For those who have passed CCNA recently am planning to take mine next month. Is composite quizzes alone is enough to pass or I have to go through all questions 5 – 16 plus the simulation labs ?
